Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

She had found it by chance, a dead elk felled by a predator in the plains that bordered Elkshire's claim, and while much of its meat had been consumed there'd been a great deal left over. It was relatively fresh and, with a sly grin, the rogue conjured a grand idea. She could use this to insult the Queen, she knew. It would be impossible to drag it all the way to The Crown by herself so, with regular glances around her to be sure that she wasn't being watched, Tavra set about stripping the carcass of the parts she'd require to bring her plot to fruition.

Tavra carried organs and strips of meat off to a secluded place to hide them, one by one. In the heat of a Summer sun and with flies depositing their eggs among exposed flesh, the leftovers were infested within hours of having been relocated. Over the days she'd return to check on them, curl her lip with disgust as the maggots ate their way through rotting elk and hold her breath to avoid the distinct scent of death and rot, until at last the time had come to deposit them in her intended location.

There were many streams that led into the heart of the Déorwine claim, and a the edge of the forest she delivered her first insult. Tavra returned several times to drop the disgusting, maggot-ridden body parts into the stream and observed how some sank and others floated off. With the last, a particularly disgusting liver that'd discoloured considerably and tasted like actual shit, Tavra did not stick around to sneer. She moved off as swiftly as her legs would allow so she could rinse her mouth and clean herself off, content that a good job had been done in poisoning Célnes' sacred waters and that her wolves would suffer for her wrongdoing.

Within a few days, the pool that the stream fed into would be teaming with sickening bacteria.
