Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

set to present time, shortly after THIS thread.

Wandering close and partially on the direct border! Open to minor injuries!

As she ran from the boar, Miriam was embraced by the foggy day. A mist enveloping them, and with so the boar, confused and lost, wandered away after a disinterest. Alas though, she too was lost within this murky fog, but the scent of a pack was high within the air. If she remembered rightly, by the words of the first wolf she met ; they were Nightwalkers. She was wandering awfully closely by pure accident, but stumbled along the way and proved difficult on how to get out.

It was quiet, giving a nerve to even her, where momentarily she would pray to not the Goddess, but the Horned God for a safe path through this journey on attempting her way out of this madness of a thick white fog.

A fog had rolled in, which was not a foreign thing to the Blackwood Reach of the wolves who resided within. In fact, this was one of her favorite states of the forest, and she found it very rarely became foggy now that it was the height of summer and the sun blazed strong. Feeling almost as if she were a ghost, Lilith took the chance to glide along in relative obscurity, the darkness of her pelage melding intimately with the thick vapor.

She had no wants or whims, but her feet found themselves close to the borders. Here, the eidolon found a trail; in scent and amongst the mist, as if something had cut through it in a wandering, meandering path. Lilith immediately set to following it. If it was a Nightwalker, that was great — if it was not, that would be even greater. The stormy yearling’s pace quickened, faster and faster, silent, until: a grin oozed upon her maw. She saw a slight woman, wandering amongst the miasma as if she were lost.

“Ohh, this is not a safe place for you~” she sang out from behind the unknown woman. “Are you not afraid of the Boogeyman?”

Miriam jumped lightly, the soft sound of another in the foggy backdrop. She turned though, to see a small figure standing ; perhaps a yearling, although looked much younger then herself and assumed to just be a few months off. Ink blessed them, dark in colors except for the sweet ripened blue that felt like a warmth, although false, something struck about it that felt.. Strange.

"I am terribly sorry," Miriam said, "I had been chased by a boar and wondered too close. Although it seems I am having trouble finding my way out." She was quick to admit of her sin, and knew quite well the dangers that came to wandering into a pack-land. Her mothers warned of her of this, and her Amma was quick to remind her to her final departure of how packs were very much unlike the Orchid. Sometimes cruel and unreasonable, and there was relief she yet to be attacked.

"The boogeyman?" but, who was that?

The slight thing was jumpy, and as Lilith came nearer she also noticed that (even as a yearling) the serpent outsized her. Lilith attempted to assemble her expression so her grin resembled something empathetic and not at all ill-intended. How could this woman not know, or ascertain what lands she waltz so lightly upon — how could she not smell them, or feel them?

It was almost too easy, like a lamb walking into the wolf's waiting mouth.

The phantasm pulled up closer to the silvered wayfarer. "Don't worry, you won't get to meet him," she purled with a flick of the feathered ear, allowing her words to hang heavily in the air for a moment. She wondered if the stupid thing even realized what she truly meant. She wondered how long it would take for her brothers, or someone else, to come up upon them and steal this prize from her.

She wondered if the woman saw how her teeth flashed, only a moment before she struck.

Young in face but not in form, the closer she emerged from the shadows to reveal a behemoth height that would make one shudder in a wonder. There was not many who toppled beyond the realms of normal ; faint in height, an inch taller but to see another so massive was.. Strange, to say the least. Although Miriam had met another, but they gave such an aroma that brought her a calmness and pleasure she did not think twice the scare such a height came — but differed to the one before her, smelled lightly something not pleasant, from the realm of this reach, and out of the fogs she comes, claiming something that of a Boogeyman.

Breathes she reminded herself, calmness despite the thumping within her heart. There was no reason as of yet to show such a fear or malice, as the maiden failed to notice the flash of the other, and assured that she would not meet such a spectrum.

"Perhaps.. May I inquire your time to find my way out?"

Lilith did not know what to make of this ghostly figure in the mists, who seemed so stupefied by it all that it nearly elicited a laugh from her throat. Lilith shrugged her shoulders and scrunched her nose at the thing, as one might when looking at something they found to be profoundly cute. "You may not," she sneered in response, finally allowing the laugh to trickle from her mouth as if her mouth were a babbling brook, her and laugh was the water cascading down.

The banshee strode closer, reaching out her nose to sniff behind the other's ear. She smelled sweet, like a fawn; Lilith could feel the blood pulse just below the skin, behind her ear. Saliva began to collect in the pit of her mouth, but the girl staved off her own indulgence for a moment to steep in the moment; because the moment prior was as intoxicating as any moment during, and it deserved its own space to be.

Lilith wondered if the other would try to get away, or if she would stand there like a petrified dove.

"Oh.." Miriam wasn't really sure how to respond from that, as the girl then laughed at her. The maiden smiled a bit uncomfortable by this, and she strode closer, "ah.. I can find my way out, that's quite alright." Unusual this forest was, bringing what was a heart-thumb to her and inner prayers to the Horned God for safety, but yet to be attacked. She tried not to throw judgement for yet any true terror came to be, and yet the stirr of darkness was swimming there, that Miriam backed up.. Fully intending to turn around, and leave this.. Reach.

If it was not normal in other parts of the world to haunt and maim strangers simply because they walked on your land, then those parts of the world were dead to Lilith. She wanted nothing to do with the softness that this woman was, other than as a thing to ridicule and petrify and stupefy with her own nonsensical manner. The eidolon wanted everything to do with the taste of they gray woman's blood, or the sound of her squeal. She wondered, would it sound like @Golliath when the wrestled, or prey when it died?

Beneath her, the woman made to move away. That was the only signal Lilith needed to open her mouth and snake it around the delicate skin and fur that coalesced behind her ear, and the delicate part of the neck right behind it. Her mouth then closed, and she was attached like a vice grip; attached like a leech on one's most vulnerable part, not yet threatening injury, but certainly not inspired by innocence. She waited to see what the sprite would do; she hadn't gotten far, and it would be almost nothing to wrench her to the ground, with the grip she now held.

At the point being, it felt like a snake was slowly coiling around the maiden, a shiver sending down her spine as the fog crept through the reach. There was an owl cry, her ears twitched as if it send a signal to alert herself, by the Goddess's warnings, it was time to leave. An approaching, an attack..? She couldn't tell, for Miriam turned away and was swiftly attempting to make her way out with due time, she didn't know which way was out besides heading to where the owl started to move forward, out of the blackwoods.

A startled gaze though looked behind, whether this woman of the night, would be following like the boogeyman she mentioned.

The lilac spirited flitted away, and Lilith couldn't find it within herself to give chase. The woman was a thing of beauty, begging to be profaned; but the stormy yearling felt as though she were playing a long game, here. She would see this slick, otherly woman again. Perhaps, this time, not on her family's soil —  as that tended to end in consequences that Lilith wouldn't always called the most fun. The most final and finite, sure.

The fun was yet to be had, Lilith told herself beneath an overcurrent of giggling laughter. She followed to ensure the woman left, and then turned around to find a brother to take her unexpressed aggression out on.
