It was extremely risky what she was doing, but she hoped that she wouldn't die because of it. With a thought in her mind, she searched for a mouse, quickly trapping and killing a vole. At least if she was caught, she would say that she was searching for prey for @Reign. That would be a good excuse.

Now that she had her back up plan, the quiet woman would search for @Almight, looking for the dark male that had been so nice to her before. She hoped and prayed that she could find him before Reign found her. However, she didn't dare howl or call for him, for fear or someone else finding her first. Instead, she would simply search for his scent, going back to the same place she found him before.

He'd been out hunting as usual. He liked to go beyond to Pasture, to leave the easy prey for the youngsters who were still learning, and also to exercise his body and free his mind of any dark thoughts after the... ceremony. The run-in with Aerys and Reign had not been forgotten, but he hadn't thought about them or the situation in a while now. There were bigger concerns to be had, after all. He was out and about, lazing for on the job for once as he'd already done some hunting earlier. He had a lot to think about.

The woman caught the scent rather quickly, making her quicken her pace. She tracked the scent silently until she found him, pausing for a moment as she was unsure of what to do. Doing this would not only put herself in danger, but also the man too. Thankfully though, it seemed that he had a pack of some sort, so hopefully that would keep him safe. If only that meant the same for her. Hesitantly, she would walk forward, keeping his head and tail lowered as she was scared of what he may do. She could only assume that he would help her, but she still had to be cautious.

"He..llo" Her voice was gruff and quiet, as she hadn't spoken for over a month now and her voice wasn't used to working.

He hadn't expected anyone to approach him, being as large as he was and with a face that screamed exhaustion - but when he saw who it was in front of him, his expression softened. He hadn't actually heard her speak before, had he? One would think her incapable of doing so. His tail swished as he lay there, deciding to stay put as to not intimidated her.

“Hello.” He returned, a bit surprised. He looked beyond her, then to the sides. “Where's your friend, Aerys?” He asked then. Though he had his doubts about the other woman's intentions, the two seemed inseparable for all the worst reasons. To think she'd come here alone... something was probably wrong.

Thankfully he didn't attack her or yell at her and instead, his features softened when he noticed her. Relaxing slightly, she would shake her head at his words, a soft whimper escaping her lips. "Not my... friend. Kidnapped..." She spoke very softly, barely a whisper but just enough that he could hear her. Her eyes were wide as she looked around, quickly shaking her head as her body began to shiver with fear. "Bad idea... she'll hurt you." She looked back from where she came, wondering if she should just cut her losses and leave before Reign showed up.

This man was nice to her and the last thing she wanted was for him to get hurt because of her. It certainly wasn't something she was going to be able to live with. The girl hesitated though, looking around with wide, terrified eyes. What was she doing? She didn't know what to do and was extremely scared, jumping at even the slightest sounds within the forest.

His suspicions were confirmed then, and he stiffened a bit. Yes, he had offered his help, but taking her to the Nightwalkers could be worse for her. She was no fit for their cruelty and barely functioned as someone to bear their soldiers. He thought of Mystery and her cruel death, granted to her for wanting to help someone in need. Is that how Aerys would end up, or maybe even him for suggesting they take her in?... Did he care?

“That's what I thought.” He rumbled, then scoffed at the notion the little black female could hurt him. He was a warrior - a hunter, taking her down would be no problem, he thought. He paused to ponder for a bit, thoughts twisting into something more sinister. She was easy to control, and he did need something to show to his father - to prove his commitment to the Nightwalkers. He could suggest to take Aerys under his care 'till her heat - being under his care was the most peaceful position he could offer.

“I could take you to my pack, the Nightwalkers, though most of us are not much better than your kidnapper.” He revealed honestly. “But I will be there to take care of you, and as long as you follow our warlord's orders, you are a free woman.” That is how he got by himself, though he was a respected Rache and he knew not how much Aerys could offer them.

She pushed her ears forward slightly at his words, noting that he did, indeed, assume that she had been kidnapped. For a moment, a sigh of relief would life some weight off of her chest, only to slam right back down as she heard his next words. Not any better? Would that mean that she was running from one abuser to another? Clearly that's what she assumed as she began to twitch and grow restless, glancing around as she wondered if he would hurt her. He had seemed so nice before, but if him and his pack was just like Reign and hers.... then perhaps she would be better just running away.

The wheels in her head were turning, unsure of what she should do. She could take his offer, but who knows what that would mean for her. So, she would speak softly, her voice still not used to working. "I just.... don't want to ... get attacked again." Her wound on her face was healing but it was still a very present reminder of what could happen to her if she got caught.

It's funny how he had stated before to his father that he was no good at lying as a jest, but it appeared it was more true than he had realized. Though keeping things quiet came easy to him, the act of actually telling anything but the truth seemed a lot harder. He could twist it in a way that favored him, but to find a complete lie in his words... now, that was difficult.

But it was also a crutch, as now he had upset Aerys. He lowered his massive head and, in turn, his shoulders to seem less opposing. “It's alright Aerys. For now, anything is better than your current situation.” He wished to establish a good relationship with her so he could use her later on - if she accepted his offer, that was. He had no need for her, not yet, but having others around that owed you a favor was a plus anywhere in this hellhole.

“They won't.” He stated confidently. “Not while I'm around.” They would maybe try, but that he kept quiet. He'd be her protector, as that role came easy to him, and he hoped she'd be grateful enough to do something for him down the line. “My pack is against charity, but I am not. You can stay with me within the Nightwalkers, or I can take you up North where I know one of our allied packs reside.” True, he hadn't spent much time with the Empyreans, but they were more capable of empathy he thought.

She was cautious and scared, something that grew more after being attacked by Reign. Even now, as he lowered his head and made himself less intimidating, she was still on edge. However, she relaxed slightly, less scared of him but more scared of her surroundings. She fell silent as she thought for a moment, glancing around herself for a moment before finally sighing and turning towards him. With a small nod, she would move towards him, her body tense and low to the ground. "O... okay." She said simply, moving to his side though she wondered for a moment if he would attack her the moment she let her guard down.

She figured going with him would be better than staying where she was. After all, if she was able to run away from Reign, then maybe she could run from this man too. Nothing was stopping her from doing that... right? "What is the name of the other pack?" She asked softly, hoping that he would tell her the truth. She didn't know if he was lying to her or not, but he had showed her more kindness than anyone else had, so she would trust him. She just hoped that if he told her the name of the other pack, she would have someone new to run if she needed to.

She calmed down - at least, what could be considered calming down for the poor Aerys. His large ears swiveled when she agreed, happy that he had convinced her so far. Though he knew what he was doing wasn't entirely right, at least he wasn't abusing her like the woman she was running from. He was the lesser of two evils, and he was glad she saw that as well.

“They're called Empyrean. They live just past the river up North.” He informed with a small glance towards the direction he had pointed out. “I think your chances will be best there - but you must approach their borders alone. It would not look good on you if I were to do all the talking, it would make you look weak.” Not that that wasn't a fair assessment, but still. No pack wanted to take in a charity case, unless their leader truly was some kind of saint devoted to the weary travelers of the Hellscape they shared.

The woman pinned her ears against her head, watching him closely. He didn't straight out attacked her which she guessed meant something at least. Quietly she would glance towards the north, watching where he was pointing. Empyrean. That named sounded hopeful. However, she certainly didn't enjoy the fact that she had to go there alone. What if Reign found her while she was out there by herself?

Fear gripped her as she whimpered, shaking her head as she lowered herself into the ground. Fear coated her face as she shook slightly, her mind going places. All she could think about was what Reign could do to her if she caught her. There was no way she was going anywhere without someone else. Not anymore. Last time she did that, she ended up maimed and kidnapped.

Her fear kept her mute, something she did often when she was scared.

“I will be near, just out of sight.” He added quickly, seeing she was panicking yet again. “Or we could go even beyond Empyrean - the North is wonderful, and big, with treacherous mountains to conquer. You'll be safe there.” He tried to make the hopeless situation seem hopeful, but he wasn't a very positive person by nature. If she was too struck with fear and unable to move, he could not help her. He would not bring himself nor the Nightwalkers in danger - the favor owed to him should he be successful was not worth the safety of his pack nor the hatred that would grow in Reign's heart for him should he help the little bird escape.

“But whatever you decide, decide quickly. Your scent trail might have been followed. If we were to leave, it is safest we go through the river so it will be harder to track us.” He informed, a certain urgency in his tone. They could not dillydally around for very long, especially not because Reign had been here with them before. This would be one of the first places she would check when she noticed her precious victim had fled.

The woman sighed as he spoke, knowing that she really didn't have a choice. She needed to go somewhere and the place he was offering was her best choice. Slowly, on shaking legs, she would stand herself, up, a nonverbal nod the only indication that she was accepting his proposal. She was slightly annoyed that he was just shoving her away onto another pack, but at the same time, she was thankful. In reality, she didn't know what to feel.

"I'll.... I'll go to Empyrean..." She sighed as she glanced towards the north, before looking back at him. She wasn't sure if she should just walk that way or wait. She was very hesitant, mostly because she didn't entirely know where to go. So, she waited on him to either lead the way or tell her to go. After all, she was a follower more than anything.

Feel free to start another thread at Empyrean, maybe Al can make a cameo or smth!

And so, she finally agreed. Almight wasn't one to waste time, especially not in a dire situation, so as soon as she said she was willing to go, he started leading them towards the river up North. This was best for her, he knew. Her soft and meek demeanor would be endlessly mocked and ridiculed, even punished, within the Nightwalkers. Perhaps the Empyreans took more pity on a broken soul than their Warlord.

After making it through a shallow part of the river, making sure to bathe their scents off their bodies, they started their short journey to the mountain dwelling wolves of Empyrean.
