Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

The woman find herself staying near to where her home used to be. A painful reminder of what happened. Her only goal this whole time, was keeping @Gaia safe and protecting the children in her stomach. She knew that she was actually pregnant now as her stomach had started to grow, her fur thinning there. Still though, that didn't stop her from hunting alone and fighting off anything that tried to hurt her daughter.

For now though, she figured that perhaps fishing might help feed them and would be less stressful on the pregnant woman. With a sigh, she would begin trying to fish, remembering what @Belial had taught her, which honestly wasn't much. After a few moments, she was excited that she finally did catch something, though it was rather small. It was a meal for her daughter nonetheless.

Dragonford Isles

The Brim was Dragonford's unofficial claimed land — kept away particulary from Northfall due to aggression, and tried to take a better reign on so due to the lack of prey upon the isle as well. The wolves of the ford would patrol, scavenging and finding travellers and guiding them through. Some with fighting, others with not ; but the fog often kept away many wary loners and rogues from it's depths.

"You of all wolves, should know that the ford claimed these as hunting grounds." Upon the wind, a smell recognizable and now unwanted. Dread within her heart and the spark of not anger, but a vex upon their soul, "I had offered you solutions, even a place to bring you that was safe for you, and your young," and she prowled through it's beaches. Her voice ringing into the fog as the smell of Serenity got closer and closer, and facing the woman who fished upon their beach, "but instead, you chose to remain alone."

Her tail rose, and she stared at the other with a neutrality, but a wariness, "why have you returned?" an eye to her pregnant belly and a notice — she still lacked the smell of another pack.

She had been hoping that she could get in and out without any issues, but Ven was much more attentive then she gave her credit for. As soon as she scent wafted toward her, she knew she had messed up big time. Instantly, she would stand up, turning to face the woman as she approached. Her body was tensed and her hackles were raised, ready for a fight. Ever since leaving the Ford, she met nearly everyone with her defenses up, not wanting to risk it.

"Your other options weren't very specific. You said 'go' without giving directions." She didn't know where the hell Elysium was. "Besides, if they are allied with you, then they likely have the same ideas as you and I don't want to put them in danger." It was clear from the way she stood and the narrowed eyes that she no longer trusted Vendrussel and the Ford anymore.

"This is the only land I know, you took me in the day that I showed up in these strange lands and I never felt a reason to explore outside of it. I'm lost and I'm scared." She sighed slightly as she shook her head, her body relaxing slightly, but still ready to defend herself. "I already lost Jun to you, the least I could get is a fish for my daughter." Serenity had fallen to the skinner side, even with her pregnancy. Finding enough food to sustain herself was challenging and it was starting to show. Though her belly was growing, her body was shrinking, the fat and muscle that she had when she lived in the ford was quickly fading.

"Elsyium is in the east, they are not allies. Only wolves that seemed friendly enough on wanting to stop a war." She didn't know where they were, or even how their pack was in general. The only general information that Vendrussel knew was a woman named Valeska, who was called the 'High Priestess,' and was determined, like Olive, to try and settle this war that waged between the two sea-groups. For now they were settled in a dead-lock, and had seen them, and likewise, their own wolves have not. She had yet to notice how a rogue wolf ventured to enemy grounds as their newfound member.

The other held a hostility, her own fur smoothed over. She would not attack a pregnant woman, and sat upon her hunches, simply watching and reading her movements. The exhaustion that she held, "I offered to take you to them but you even denied that," and she shook her head, feeling that the other was not as smart as she made them to be at times, lacking the consciousness to make the safe decision for herself, and her soon to be pups. Though Vendrussel respected their allegiance to herself, and the values she took — she would rather be a loner that struggled to survive then to seek somewhere that could be safer. The dragoness held a look of sympathy, against the others dread. Though held ground.

Though in truth, she held no idea if @Valeska would accept her. It was only a guess, for she imagined that Empyrean would not, especially as the Alpha was with her own pups. But at the very least.. Even if they didn't agree, the dragoness did not wish harm upon her.

But she couldn't help raise a brow to Jun's mention, and felt he was being treated like a toy, "He is not an object, he makes his own decisions to be apart of your life, or stay loyal to the ford." On the tip of her tongue was the mention whether if she loved him or not ; but refrained in fear of the truth. By mentioning so could strain such a heartbreak even more, as her words now were harsh.

Even Vendrussel wasn't sure why she was talking to her. Trying to defend her piece, that the other was the one who threw Dragonford away. She had lost a few members for similar reasons, and was peacefully thought where they were.

The woman noticed how at her aggression, she merely sat down, not showing her own aggression towards her and for that, she was thankful. Still, she kept herself alert and on guard, even as she stop the show of teeth. She couldn't get used to relaxing, not anytime soon. "I've been looking for a pack, I haven't stayed alone intentionally. I have heard of others near here, which is why I'm here." She sighed, shaking her head slightly. "You never told me much of the war, though I know there is another sea pack that you're against. I know there is another that lives north of the mountains, I was hoping to meet them." She wasn't going to lie and say she was doing this for other reasons, but she also wasn't going to outwardly say that she was struggling.

Shaking her head, she would sigh slightly. "You turned your back on me Ven, I didn't want your help. I was hurt and confused. You're not the first to turn away from me in my hour of need. I will get through this." She didn't entirely believe that, but she would keep her appearances up in the face of her proverbial enemy.

At the mention of Jun, she would look away, feeling her heartstrings pull at the thought of him. She didn't know what exactly she felt for him, but now wasn't the time to think about it. "I'm not saying that he is, what I'm saying is that he chose you over me...." The hurt was clear in her voice, but she would shake her head, refusing to look Ven in the eye.

"I had told you of one, and you were free to ask details — but didn't." She was honest ; Vendrussel mentioned of a war in-case any were thrown away from partipating in such an idea. Even if the function at the moment was lacking, the wariness of it coming may always be there. She warned, and the other joined regardless. She never hide such factors, nor' would she continue hiding the beginning, the end, and even her own cause and effect to the battles. There was no longer any entirely blameful sides, and she took fault into that.

"Leave," the dragoness got up, "you are the one who turned your back on us, and rather awaiting for a more peaceful time, or still being one of us and temporary staying elsewhere — you chose your own way. For that, I can respect you, but I will not take the blame for your abandonment, or jealousy of Jun." Still she did not show motion to attack, nor' did she show movement to get closer. Yet it was clear she was ready to escort the other out, especially as Vendrussel demanded within her voice, it was time for the other to go. She cared not, for their desire to hunt for her young.

She would not take the blame of her own choices, to sleep with a man on the first night, bare his young and abandon the pack she chose — and claim that he chose Vendrussel, not the pack. To her, they were all members that she would throw her life away for, and likewise hoped they would do the same. Serenity couldn't even look at her in the eye when she mentioned Jun, and could only think of such a life — of what young love does so.

She would make sure not do that to herself.

"You are unwelcomed to these lands. To the east, there is Elsyium, in the mountains, there is Frostchant, in the south, there is Empyrean. May the dragons guide you, to your new home."

Quickly, the woman stood up, fur bristling and teeth flashing. "This is fucking ridiculous. No, you are such a bold faced liar! You gave me only two choices, you told me to kill my kids or leave. You never gave me the option of staying apart of the Ford and living elsewhere. I would have taken that option. I loved the Ford and I wanted to stay but you didn't let me. And now, when you see the aftermath of what you've done, now you want to come in and pretend that you're all high and mighty giving options that were never on the table? Yes, this is your fault, it will always be your fault. If I, Kailani, or my other pups die, that is on your head. I hope your Dragons look down on you for it every night."

She would pick up Kailani and start to leave, heading north. She knew where she was going now. "And when you lay with Jun, I hope you think every night about how this is all your fault. Look him in the eyes and know that you did this. I hope, when you two have children of your own, I hope it kills you and the pups." With that, the woman would storm off, her destination set in her mind. She was done and she made her thoughts and choices clear.

Did the other not hear her? She quoted herself "I will bring you somewhere safer, bare them somewhere safer. I had said those exact words toward you, as the other option," and she shook her head, "not once did I say you would not be apart of us. Not once, did I not want you to be one of us." At the point so — she thought the other no longer heard what was said ; only what she wanted to hear. That Jun chose her, not the ford, that Vendrussel exiled her, despite given choices of a birth control, or taken elsewhere for safety. Not once did she force her to lay with the other, nor desire her to leave anytime soon, "you said no, and mentioned not wanting to be with strangers, despite us, being strangers."

Thus now, she took no blame. Guilt that may be dwindled greatly. Vendrussel regretted Ynness, she regretted taking her life when there could've been other choices — but she was so quick to prove herself, in the way that her Clan knew. Others pointed out, quite clearly her actions were frowned upon and she thought of them with an honesty. Even frustrations, talking with @The Whisperer. Mistakes she knew well so, and may not be able to be forgiven so, especially not by Northfall. That was now why she thought this war held no hope ; because no mother, would let their daughters killer continue. In a way that was why Dragonford did not march to their land — and hoped, they could simply leave each other alone.

In this moment — she only had wished for the best for Serenity. Somewhere.. To be safer, for her young. To bring her somewhere else but the other, "This is on you now. Take a look at yourself, and view your actions. The consequences, of what you have done to yourself." Her paws were washed off at the situation. It wasn't the ideal moment, but now she looked at the other who was.. Full of her ideals, she had forgotten all that was said to spin a tale, she so thought of. Even accusations of day she would lay with Jun —

She looked at the child with a pity — who was then taken away. But Vendrussel followed, followed onto she had left the brim within a peace, and would watch her until her figure disappeared into the wilderness. She imagined this would be the last time to see the other — and wondered, where would the heavens lead her then.

She looked back to Dragonford and thought lightly of @Jun.
