Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

She was a mess.

Fur tangled within salt and water that she didn't feel like taking off, and minor areas of scratches were though blood could not be seen, it lingered within the air. In the midst of her emotional toil did she trash and fall, only to lug herself home in what seemed like a battle she had lost ; but wouldn't dare to tell anyone. Vendrussel was embarrassed enough from her tantrum and crying, and to lose afterwards was..

She rather not think about it, and hauled her body to the beach. An eye toward the pathway that led to home, and she waited for the tides to settle down, not feeling to drag her body through the ocean. She was tired, and wanted to lay down.. Gradually though her body did without asking the brain, and gingerly laid down with paws crossed and head ontop ; as she waited, and watched.

The man had been wandering through the mountains, getting much better at climbing the steep hills that he had made his home in. He wanted to get better at it so that he could be more comfortable hunting and, if needed, fighting in these conditions. As he was doing so though, the scent that was very familiar to him caught his attention. With a pep in his step, he would bound towards the scent, like a kid running towards a candy shop. But, when he got there, he froze with open mouth ready to say hello. No hellos were uttered as he could tell something was wrong.

Normally, he would wrap himself around her, try to tell her everything was going to be okay and understand what happened. But he knew better with her, that would only make her feel worse. So instead, he laid himself down a few feet away from her, a silent guardian as he kept his back towards her. He would leave her alone, but would also do his best to keep others from bothering her right now. Unless she chased him away, he would remain vigilant.

She was on edge ; still within an anger and a rage. Trials of acceptances and stages so, grieving and now just.. Angry at the world, at herself, at lashing out and even losing. Being called a whelp, to wish to die by the other and casted off with a look that made her seem weak.

Her head raised ; the scent of another waving over that was not Dragonford and she narrowed so. Not within an attitude to deal with a rogue within the makin ; she would hope it was a passerby. Though slowly Vendrussel realized the familiar scent, and a gaze landed upon Vincent who — was looking at her as well. He sat by close. She wasn't keen to dealing with lover-boy and his antics, and was thankful of his silence ; but she was snappy.

"What do you want?" Her tail lightly thrashed with fur ruffled ; still within brawling ready from a fight with @Daighre. Warning him, that catching boundaries was with a consequence.

The man could damn near hear the crackling in the air, something had happened and he wasn't sure what, but he damn sure which he did know. Though he typically wasn't one for violence, he wouldn't mind making sure whoever hurt her could never be found again. He sniffed the air, trying to catch whatever scents were on her. He caught the scent of a rogue, but he couldn't be quite sure that was who had attacked her. There was only one way to really find out though. Mentally, he would lock away that scent, his face turning more determined as he caught on to it. He certainly was planning to go meet the other one soon after this.

He didn't flinch or startle as he snapped at him and instead stayed where he was, very calm as he glanced over at her. Duel colored eyes would watch her for a moment before he spoke. "Take it out on meh." He said simply, moving to face her. He said nothing else, no explanation, nothing but offering his own body as her punching bag.

He smelled of Elsyium. Vendrussel knew the scent, from Harper and Valeska — it hung upon his pelt that she imagined a night upon with one of them, or even a luring within recruitment. Though away from the Brim, he would not linger long. She knew well that the pack was not but a few paces away, and relatively fair ; wondering, if maybe this would be one of the few last times she would see him again. The hollow, would remain empty again.

She narrowed her eyes at him, a displacement washing over as her joints ached already. Any energy of a fight had long been drawn out, and she could only mutter with a, "Go away, Vincent," she snapped lightly, a growl emitting from her throat that she did not want to deal with the man, and whatever arc he was settling upon with her. Fighting, words — no longer a mood of any, despite the angst and anger that emitted from herself, and the threat, or attempted threat, at him.

But it was unknown if she really would go for it; if the man continued to push buttons. None were even pushed, in an honesty, but Vendrussel was too short on her fuse to care so.

The woman didn't take him up on his offer and honestly, he didn't really expect her to. He hoped she would though, but it didn't seem like she was the type to do that regardless. He hovered for a moment, visibly turn as she asked him to leave. He wanted to do what she asked, but he also wanted to help her. He stood up slightly, starting to take a step towards her before pausing. It took him several moments before he finally would sigh, lowering his head in defeat. "I care bout ya ma lady. I hate da fact dat someone hurt ya even if ya don't want someone ta help." He sighed and would start to turn around.

"I understand." He said simply, taking one last scent of the loner that he had caught on her scent, perhaps they could shed more light on what was going on. Whether or not they needed some incentive was an entirely different matter, one Vincent was not concerned with right now. With that, he would begin to walk away, nose to the sky as he began to try and track the other creature.

She grumbled lightly, and turned her head away not responding. Maybe another day she would realize so and appreciate him for the better — but for the moment Vendrussel was angry. She didn't want to talk, she didn't want help that made her feel even more angry for the weak will she gave. Thus, she didn't stop him ; and when clear signs of the side going down, she returned home.
