For awhile now she’d been here. Wandering the landscape. Getting to know the ends and out. Though Season had yet to meet any other wolves besides the two down at the shore. Not that it much bothered her none. Only time would tell when another would cross her path. There was no rush. Not for her that is.

At the moment, Sea stood underneath the heavy beating of rain. Every drop soaked into her coat and she did nothing to stop it. Except for the occasional shake to provide room for more of the falling wetness. This weather so happened to be her favorite. While others ran for cover, she chose to stand in it. Head tilted back. Eyes closed. Just as she was doing now.

Her ears back with a small smile claiming her lips. She thought back to how she and her mother would do this together. Conversing about life. What it had to offer. The future waiting for Season. Oh. How she knew her mother would love the stories to tell. No matter how small they were.

Sea missed her family. Especially her father. His presence always seemed to bring her peace. No matter what was going on in life.

She didn’t stop it. The sound built up through a silent longing of her family. It bubbled just below the surface before breaking through sealed lips. Season began to sing. Her howl sweet and soft. Pushing further. Reaching higher into the skies. Filling the air around her. She didn’t care who heard or what anyone had to say.

All she knew was this moment was entirely hers. Not realizing she rested twenty inches or so away from pack borders.

The veil of fog that lingered on his mind had been lifted. Both @Calhoun and @Edith had been guided back home by their High Elk and his mood shifted immediately. Once a leaden-pawed prince, now a brisk trot drove him through the patter of rain that lusted its way into the oily depth of his umber robe.

And when a serenade caressed the dampening thicket, the elk prince paused in his meaningful pace to hear the lyrics that sought... someone.
Without urgency, he searched for the beautiful source. Peeking through the dense pines here and there in search of her. Until he did.

The duke stood tall, watching her for a few moments in her aura of emotion. Only voicing his unannounced presence when she took her silence.

'My condolences for your loss...', he spoke gently, the sorrow in her voice unmistakable for he only rung his own mere weeks ago in a sequence of tunes for his brother and sister.

Her heart felt heavy as she sung. The sound filling her with sadness. Hope lingering just behind that emotion.

For a moment, Akane’s offer swept into her mind. She would have a home. A new abundance of wolves to call family. Sai’Ke thought long and hard on this. To the point she didn’t realize the moment another arrived. Or even when he had spoken.

She continued on until it finally wavered into silence. The realization of a voice drifting away with the rain’s cool breeze. ”Thank you. I haven’t seen my mother in awhile and I mis her dearly.”She flashed a smile in his direction. Her gaze drifting a little off from staring him in the face. It was highly disrespectful to keep eye contact with a wolf of higher ranked wolf. Especially one she had no idea what he was capable of.

Elkshire
05-15-2022, 07:06 AM (This post was last modified: 05-15-2022, 02:36 PM by Maral. Edited 1 time in total.)
She roamed. Silent and with no route in mind, the shadow trailed her way pointlessly through the forest. Maral often sought solitude, preferring her own company over that of anyone else in Elkshire, though in recent days she thought solemnly of @Vermillion.

Her sister, stained by furs of snow much like her own, had been the only littermate with whom Maral had felt she could relate to. It hurt and frustrated her that Vermillion hadn't cared to seek her privately. She was gone now, off into the wide world beyond the Elk's Crown, away on an adventure of her own to seek a place where she truly belonged. It was what was right for Vermillion, she knew, yet it tore her apart all the same.

A voice, low and mournful, drew Maral's attention away from her grim thoughts of family. She veered toward the location from which the howl had risen, swift to find an outsider of black and gold just beyond Elkshire's claim. Warwick had already moved to intercept, naturally, and Maral exhaled an exasperated breath; the favoured one always had to be the first on every scene.

The young Déorwine prowled forward, a hardness to her dark eyes as she shot the stranger a pointed, wordless glare.

A bleak, grim line straightened his black lips, a related expression was what foretold his sympathy. He nodded.

'I know what it is like to mourn the absence of someone close', he referred to his siblings, but he would not be able to consider even the fleeting thoughts of being without his adored mother, @Célnes. 'Are you looking for her?', he wondered if he could offer his assistance, had a wolf of a certain description already roved the court of Elkshire, if not then he would pass the information on to aid in their search.

It was all still raw his own loss, and the lack of news or rallies to go forth beyond Elkshire made his helplessness feel worst.

The shaded form (even darker with wet in her cashmere locks) of a sister grew near. Turning his head to see her, he cocked his head in a respectful acknowledgement, dipping it in a gentleman's manner before his glance swayed back to the despondent soul.

”She will not be found so easily.” She looked to the skies. A sad shadow darkening her features for a brief moment. ”My mother passed when I’d reached the age of two and decided best to leave. Her departure from this world shortly after.”

Season longed to go back in time. To remain at her mother’s side. Even for those short moments of life she had left to give. She knew it wasn’t her fault. Though, at times, she felt as if it was. ”I do apologize if I have disturbed you or any others. I hadn’t realized I stood so close to your borders.” Her head dipped. Catching sight another which stared at her pointedly.

It didn’t disturb her none. Her eyes a simple acknowledgment that she knew of the young woman’s presence. But, said nothing more as she did not happen to speak to Season herself. ”I’m Season.”

Warwick turned his head to acknowledge her arrival, but she did not avert her dark gaze from the stranger to seek his own sunflower eyes. Maral intended to stare her down, intimidate her enough that she might feel uncomfortable, and simply depart their sacred forest's edge.

As the interloper looked her way, the shadow flared her nostrils in annoyance. Her brother had allowed this fool to linger on their borders by making small talk, when he should've been driving her off - with fangs at her haunches if need be. Maral, lacking trust in outsiders, twitvhed an ear forward briefly at the offering of a name, yet she gave none in return.

She simply continued to stand there, stoic and like stone, in wait of this meeting to come to an end.

He listens to her convey the sadness that caused her cry, and he nodded solemnly in response. He would not air his own distresses to a stranger, but sympathised with her own, and this could be seen in his eyes as they looked at her own full of sorrow.

'Season, I am Warwick, prince of Elkshire where you encroach', his eyes and crown turned to his dear sister, and she gave an air of discomfort and displeasure. 'You border our home and must insist you redirect your path'. The white tones that licked at their undercarriage were unacceptable to them and their religion, and it would not bode well with any other siblings had they been the ones to greet the songbird.

He stood, walking slowly to stand beside his sister. She was not happy about the stranger, and he wanted her to know where he stood, he would encourage them to leave more persistently if that subsided Marals' annoyance -- ever protective of his siblings, moreover his sisters in particular.

Season only nodded.

Since arriving here, it seemed the wolves here weren’t anything that she was used to. To be honest the whole thing made her feel out of place.

A low whimper tried to escaped, but was quickly swallowed down. She didn’t want them to know of her hurt feelings. She’d remain strong.

Turning to leave from the bordered territory to find a place to be utterly alone.

Warwick seemed to realise that his sister wasn't prepared to move on, and curtly dismissed the outsider. Maral studied the stranger - Season as she'd introduced herself. It was a pretty name, she mused in the safety of her own mind, but her appreciation for it was brief.

Her brother shifted, moving to stand at her side in support of her frustration, and Maral enjoyed the small taste of power that came with his approach. She felt like she'd accomplished something in reminding Warwick that keeping rogues from their sacred forest was the right thing to do.

Maral couldn't tell that the she-wolf was hurt by Elkshire's dismissal, and she stared coolly after her as she turned tail and disappeared among the trees. She snorted - good riddance - and made to exchange a silent glance with her littermate before moving to carry on her way.

It wasn't in the paw print of his design to be so dismissive of a maiden in distress. He watched her leave at his caution, she came with no harmful intentions and Maral failed to see this, rogue or not. He wouldn't hold this against her though.

He then turned to look at his dear sister, before she departed shortly after. He'd do anything for his sisters, and if turning away someone that only vaguely bordered their home just to keep the peace between this sister then he'd happily oblige. Right now he felt his relationships with his littermates were quite fragile, and keeping them taped together was all he had at the moment.

Sarg, the writer, couldn't remember if this was during or after Edith and Calhoun's absence, and this was the reason for Warwick's siding with Maral.

He then took his turn to leave the scene, trailing behind his tainted sister from a distance.
