Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

note: this was before Demonia was at/claimed the land and ask them to refrain from joining!

perhaps @Synove ?

She knew the cats held a clan within the castle ; and made peace with one member and did not venture closer in respect. Like any other they held a territory guarded, and even though they were cats she would respect as so. Just trying to survive, as any other — Uriel hoped no other would mess with them so, especially as wolves slowly flock to the plains.. Some, within the desert as well it seemed.

But she couldn't help but notice the sound of running water within the distance, and followed so — but there was no waterfall in sight and that greatly confused her. Only then she found a grand hole, so large that there was even a slowly descent to the inside. She observed the water that trickled in, and could only assume how many thousands and thousands of years it took to form this!

It was amazing, she noted. A waterfall into the hole itself where a bottom she could not see, but could note when she peered in there was entranced. As if it split off to form these 'rooms,' that she had yet to peer in to see if actually made a mini cave within, but was thoroughly impressed by the look. Did the waterfall carve those out too..? But how did it?

Her tail wagged slightly, tempting to venture within..

Synove had taken the luxury of exploring areas outside of the desert these past few days. Why had she not known that the rest of the world was this beautiful? Such beauty had always hidden behind sheaths of dreadful things to navigate: forests, mountains, ridgelines. All things that kept these hidden beauties safe, she presumed.

She first found the river mouth of the delta, deciding to stop and take a drink. Take a drink— she never thought she'd utter the words. Truth be told, Synove imagined herself living a life in the desert. A miserable one at that.

At least now she had been enlightened that life had carried much more value than caving in a den on the cold nights, sinking sands, and malnutrition. The world held resources that she would covet greedily, a sensation of her starving for the precious treasures that've been unlocked to her. All for her. Just for her.

The woman would rear through bushes with speed. If it's one thing Warcrest can use her for, it's her agility. With fox-like features: narrow bodice, longer tail, smaller feet; she is able to maneuver in and out of crevices and nooks that she never knew she had the potential to do. She was learning more about herself.

The attention of a waterfall caught wind of her ears and she sprinted towards the sound. Leaping over logs and fallen foliage, she'd remember the area. Remember, remember, remember. Then, what caught her first, was the picturesque blonde maiden staring over a ledge.

What was she doing?

Synove would emerge from the brush, the sound of the falls filling her ears. With a meek approach, she barked softly, alerting her of her presence.

Don't kill me. She prayed.

Ears flickered, the sound of bushes rustling and then the announcement of another. She looked — and saw a wolf that stood by, "Hello," Uriel greeted with a soft voice and a slightly timid smile. It wasn't often wolves approached her, and usually was of pure coincidence or the other way around. She didn't like the idea of herself skulking and prowling within the background, afraid it would be taken wrongly and the fear that an aggression would follow. It was a pleasant change, she so thought, as her tail wagged very subtly, in a slow-motion to not seem strange. Keeping it still, was not there.

"Are you here to see the waterfall?" She so asked, noting that the sound of the waterfall can be heard quite a distanced away, "be careful, there's a hole. I'm not sure how steady the grounds are." Uriel didn't even think about it for herself, she had approached and looked at it with a clear curiosity. Though now with another nearby, her paws prodded the ground to see if anything seemed abnormal. She wouldn't want someone to fall in, if the edges were unstable.. But they seemed already, at least near her.

Since it seemed like it was created eons go, the edges around had met their maker and was safe — at least, so the theory was.
