Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

@Osiris spoke about his pack, once before. An extension of the previous name called for Moonspear. Though the conversation had been since some time, when she was much younger that most of it was not forgotten. She was curious though — how her older siblings survived as so. Ara knew of them, and knew as well that most were still praying for their safe return, or at the very least somewhere within the vast world. The only one she knew, was that of Osiris, and the few cousins she rarely interacts around the mountain. There was aunts too, that were prevalent within her life, but the daredevil didn't find herself interacting with them personally too often. But they were always, one way or another, attached to her mother. The Cerberus.

But she was now curious more so on that previous time, especially the mentions of his pack. Everyone knew, that now @Leta was a sister-in-law. Would they seek out a sister-pack to form their own family? She was definitely curious — and the the thought of Osiris being a pack-leader was somewhat amusing, for he was a rather goofy brother she would add.

So, Ara sought him out, questions within the mind. She traveled through the mountain to lock onto his trail, a scent somewhere near the middle of the mountain that she was starting to travel after. He was somewhere ; she would find him.

It'd been about a week since Osiris had trained in the mountain's upper reaches. It was where he preferred to practice his hunting, as he had to be sure-footed and confident at the higher altitude. He'd be barreling down to his death if he made one wrong step. He also preferred it when the stakes were higher. It forced him to narrow his focus and block out any surrounding and wandering thoughts. Today, he had worked on his stalking, as he had been thinking about rounding up a hunting party to go and hunt some ram. His practicing did his paws in; they'd managed to weaken in his week-long break, and it reminded him not to go so long without doing it again.

Osiris had been up there for about two hours when he decided that he'd done enough for today and abandoned his post. He picked his way down the mountainside, wincing every so often when his ache flared.

Within the distance did she see him, the same tawny figure that looked similar to her brother and her father itself. All of the litters, looked like one parent one way or another. Though she had heard of the missing ones, Ara had never met them or even seen — unaware of any oddities that didn't align between the two looks. She prowled toward him, a chuffing to announce herself.

"Brother," Ara said, "I wish to know more about your previous pack." A gaze following to hide body.. She yet to suspect any injuries, but he looked rather rugged.

Ara chuffed and approached, and Osiris huffed to acknowledge her approach. He moved to meet her halfway, his stride sturdy despite the dull pain in his paws. Movement was the best medicine to remedy his discomfort— @Lyra had taught him that when he was about Ara's age.

He couldn't help but notice how much bigger she looked. She was growing into herself, as all of his younger siblings were, and he could hardly believe that they were nearly full-grown. Time had flown since they were born.

Ara caught Osiris by surprise. "Is that so?" he drawled, motioning ahead of them with his snout before he started walking again. "What would you like to know?"
