Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

The woman moved through the land, smiling softly as she did so. Though she had no issues with where her pack currently was calling home, she did love snow and every now and then, wanted to come back to it. It also helped that she was pure white and because of that, hunting in the snow was so much easier than hunting against the dark colors of green and brown. Lowering herself to the ground, the pale woman would move forward, ears spinning around until she caught the sound of a snow hare not far in front of her. Slowly and carefully she crept forward, keeping her bright blue eyes pinned to it.

After a few moments, she would launch forward, soft paws landing on the furry ball and quickly snapping its neck. Nice, simple and quick. With a soft nod to herself, she would curl up and begin eating. It had been a while since she hunted alone for herself and it was nice to do so every now and then, enjoying her time between her and nature.

Flecks of alabaster drifted down from atop their coniferous perches, clinging tightly with their makeshift hands to Farren’s dappled canvas. Lissom and slim, the sculpted edges of her diaphragm moved with ease through the drifts of white- cutting like a knife through malleable butter. The singsong strands of chorus from above remained a constant reminder of spring’s soon-to-be-embrace, yet here, it seemed, winter had all but cast its viridescence out and slammed the door shut. Evergreen pines leered from above, mocking, clinging tightly to the snow that had descended on their gnarled branches. Among the trees, shadows adhered to the edges of each passing object, their very presence an outcry against the sun’s reigning empire. Farren embellished in the embrace the woods offered, trampling aimlessly through the crux of their branches. It was all she could do, all she had done, amidst the baffling days since her sudden arrival.

She half expected to wake to a new realm each time her lids closed.

So enveloped by her own thoughts was Farren that she almost missed the white shadow crossing the confines of an open expanse.

And even if she had, could one find flaw in her for it? For a moment it had almost appeared as if the snow was moving- sculpting itself into the vague form of a canine and creeping forward with fine-tuned movements.

To Farren’s trained eye, though, she saw the form for what it was.

Another wolf. One who had successfully culled a flighty hare, too.

The tantalizing scent, reeking of warmth and spilled blood, swirled within the depths of her flared nostrils. Her stomach was quick to formulate its own assessment of the arrival of the smell, letting loose an aggravated bellow in protest to her stifled movement. Farren’s lips tugged upward in the impression of a subtle smirk, her footfalls falling outside the darkened realm of the woodland.

“I heard someone say dinner for two.” Blunt, to the point- just as she always was.

Her brows arched upwards, evidently in wait for the other's response.

The woman began eating her meal, though the sound of another approaching caught her attention rather quickly. Looking up, eyes would glance over at the approaching female, a welcoming smile on her face. The woman's words made her chuckle for a moment. "It isn't much, but sure, I don't see why not." The snow child would move away from the meal, offering it to the woman. From the scent, this new woman was a rogue, which meant she probably needed the meal more than she did.

"The name's Delgata, its nice to meet you."
