Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

Dragonford Isles
04-25-2022, 10:26 PM
It had been some time since she initiated @Dreadnought to Dragonford. The other, the storm dragon of the ford. Brought to the lands within the chaotic weather itself, and even her personality seemed like one. Quietly raging, but a deadly typhoon looked to be as even her fur as dark as the clouds can be. She held a power to her, Vendrussel thought — but didn't know much. She was warrior though, that was for sure, but.. Yet to see her own skills.

The Alpha sought the one that was on tail of their draconic path. She expected members of the tail to generally be out on the brim, the beach within a guard and keeping watch for those who venture toward the isle. But she wasn't so strict to deny an entrance to the isle itself, where dens were claimed and caches to be ; she didn't want members to simply join and do nothing so, taking resources. A group to be loyal to each other [mdash at least, that was the hope. The dream was there, and the spirit within the making.

She sought the other, a toy of a smile upon her face, "Want to spar?"

She was lying atop a boulder watching the sea when the Northern Dragon found her.

Far from the tempest that roared at her initiation, the weather this morning was mild, the sea swirling from the undisturbed currents below. Gulls flew between the peppered clouds against a cerulean backdrop.

And it was in this grandeur that Vendrussel wanted to fight.

Dreadnought grinned, immediately rising to her feet. “Sure.” She replied, lunging for the wolf.

She didn't verbally say a yes or no, rather shown in actions with a grin and a flung to herself. Though Vendrussel, who also now hailed a grin had an easy side-step to the motion. To predictable — though a lunge was always effective she thought it didn't do well into this situation at hand. Facing the other, looking at her ; she could see her movements at the very least, enough to dodge. With a side step, the dragoness would twirl around and immediately charge after Dreadnought.

Vendrussel attempted to grab at her flank as her arms raised so — an attempted tackle, a pinning to the ground at the very least.

The Northern Dragon proved her mettle by predicting her offensive move and dodging it with ease. Dreadnought scowled, the expression deepening as the bi-colored she-wolf got her to the ground.

“You're quick.” She complimented before situating both her hind paws against her leader's stomach and pushing out sharp, yeeting propelling Vendrussel off with momentous force.

"And you are strong," Vendrussel was propelled backwards as the foe used her legs to thrust her back. It gave a bit of a whiplash as her soft belly felt the hardness of the other, and the near-fish of yesterdays dinner upon the back of her throat. Channeling every bit of her energy for that momentum not to come out, she was quick to try and gather her paws for a repel attack..

Unfortunately she could feel a slip, a missing within the stone-plate but not without an attempt as she whined lightly at this mishap. Her body wildly flung with maw open, the attempt as she was falling down to the ground to grab anything from Dreadnought ; to a leg, a paw or face.

She got to her feet, balancing herself and squaring her shoulders.

The ledge they'd chosen for their tussle was a damp and unstable crag, and Dreadnought watched the navy-white dragon slip. She waited, finding no honor in exploiting another's disadvantage, following the leader down to the beach.

Circling, the storm dragon lunged once more, kicking up sand, teeth meeting Vendressel's shoulder.

The other was smart, she knew when to strike if the chance came to be. With paws unsteady and herself trying to gain a balance, she lunged. A snarl rippled through as she tried to meet the other with her own teeth, but wasn't quick enough. Firmly planted upon her shoulder as her chest rumbled with dissatisfaction — though it pleased to have such a strong wolf within the ranks, Vendrussel was not one that enjoyed losing.

She would try and match by throwing her fangs at the other, but feeling the tension upon her shoulder did the Alpha grimace lightly, a slowing in motion as she ruffled through in not only trying to move forward within this slick grounding, but meet her own fangs on the others shoulders. She could feel herself losing, but wasn't willing to admit it.

Though the tides seemed to ebb in her favor, Dreadnought refused to underestimate the dragon queen. She had her position for a reason. She'd kept this land for a reason. She knew Vendrussel to be strong.

When her teeth met the other's shoulder, she let her fangs pinch, a sharp bite that would purple, but she let go before she drew blood. When Vendrussel charged again, Dreadnought had to throw herself to the left to avoid the blow.

Panting now, she whirled again, teeth snapping all but air. “Shall we call it a draw?”

Pinched and grinded her teeth lightly, inhaling what would be a whimper to this brawl. A bruise would be upon her shoulder, but the other held of no blood and she was thankful at that moment, it really was just a spar rather then an actual one. Momentarily did her mind go elsewhere, thinking of the months her leg had been broken. Every often, it pained.

As she would charge again, and Dreadnought avoided — she offered a draw and Vendrussel nodded, "that was a good spar." She complimented the storm dragon.
