Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported

Northern mountains almost into the tundra, south of the Moving Gardens.

It felt good to be back on the road again, to expand her horizons and to see what more was out there. To fall back into the routine of a loner was easy enough and it was made even easier with the aid of Rosencrantz. Two was better than one, after all.

They had been travelling steadily northward, to paths that she hadn’t crossed yet. Paths that she was eager to get too. However, she would lead them away from “Northfall”. The pack that Vendrussel had warned her about. It as not worth possibly crossing paths with unreasonable wolves. So, northeasterly was the direction that she recommended. Through the familiar mountains to the slightly more unfamiliar tundras. It was different from the oceans that she loved but somewhere that she was not opposed to. Who knew if they’d even stay? They might just turn back around and head towards another direction, it all really depended on what they felt.

It was nice to have that freedom but stability was more important to her. Stability afforded more safety. Just as travelling with someone did and being in a pack did even more. She didn’t have to speak such things to the white wolf, she knew that he already knew. Their minds worked similarly, and it was because of this that she even came along with him. He was calm, he was logical, she didn’t have to prattle with pointless small talk.

 It was so peaceful.

Together they travelled mostly wordlessly. Every now and then one would wander a little further away to investigate something of interest, only to find the path the other had taken again and meet. Unlike with Miriam, Blackfoot too felt comfort in the silence they shared. No need to talk and “get to know” one another unless it felt necessary or right.

Which so far, didn’t seem necessary. Which was fine as well.

He didn’t know how long they would travel together, and it didn’t matter. This was their life for the time being and he would live in the moment.

As they travelled north the scenery changed. Snow was predominantly across the landscape. A scenery he was most familiar with reminding him of a time that felt so long ago now as a child. He wondered if the north here was just as unforgiving as it was back home.

He didn’t travel with Blackfoot shoulder to shoulder and instead took his own path. Weaving and watchful of anything that came their way. The weather was especially strange as of late. The figures moving across the night sky were most alarming though he did not speak of it…

Casting a single-eyed gaze to his companion, he wondered if she too saw them and was keeping quiet.

When she woke within a land a'new, she had expected a different setting. Perhaps someplace completely new, with wonders she had only heard about. Yet here, it felt familiar. Indeed, she was used to the harsh winter climates. The lands of her birth home had been strikingly similar, perhaps more densely populated... yet nonetheless, the snows and ice reigned. Yet this land was no walk in the park. There were flora and furna unknown to her, smells and sights that were unfamiliar. Here, the mountains seemed to loom over her eerily, feeling dwarfed by their shadows. Back home, the mountains that nestled her birth-pack's home were easy to navigate and by far not as treacherous...

Thoughts cast back to her Mother. A soft pang ebbed deep. Sorina was not an overly-sentimental girl, however she stuck true (unbeknown) to her blood ties. Indeed, part of her died the day she decided to leave her Mother and twin sister. Her youthful compassion... her naivety. She often found her wandering thoughts tracking their welfare, wondering whether they were living happily without her-or miserably wasting away... especially Iarna. A soft sigh flared from dark nostrils, candied lavender eyes scoured the snowy-dusted path ahead. For now, she would forgo the longing to reunite with her family, she forced herself into the present.

The winds blew in a shrill, chilling howl rustled from peak to peak. And with it, came new scents. Fresh. Close. Her steps became more deliberate, cautious as her ears perked. Perhaps she was being watched? Or followed? She paused, soft, silky ebon' fur rustled in the winds. A glance behind found no figure and yet as she turned; a glint of blue and white?

Sorina stayed motionless, eyes narrowing as she watched the two figures. They neared closer. Then one, doused in white and... heavily scarred paused. "Greetings," Sorina beckoned the two, hopefully showing that she meant no harm. An ebon' ear twitched, hoping that they would do the same.

She wondered briefly what he was thinking, as he weaved and kept watch while she set the direction. There were things going on, things that warranted a conversation. Perhaps later, not now. When they called a break, they might need to have a discussion. Blessedly, they had never felt the need thus far. They were equally as introverted and only likely to speak when they felt the need.

The wind turned out to be against them. Then, as they wandered further the ideas of meeting up and discussing things was knocked swiftly from her mind. There was a dark shape ahead. A black wolf with eyes painted a deep amethyst was before them in the snow. The blue woman would let out a soft woof, to alert Rosencrantz to what she'd seen.

She stepped closer, knowing that they'd both been seen... and that she didn't want to stray from their trail. She stopped, a conversational and safe distance away. "Greetings." She echoed, polite yet impassive with a gaze that betrayed nothing. For the moment, she felt nothing but that vague sense of suspicion that always accompanied her when she met someone new. Newcomers were always a giant question mark that could turn on you at any moment, could be absolutely nothing to you... or could help you. Which would this be?

"Who are you?" She asked, curiosity not being heard in her tone but something that was felt. Who was this yearling and what were they doing out here alone?

Her pale gaze watched the blue woman speak, she seemed as gruff as her silent scarred companion, who's gaze felt like it bore into her very skull. Greetings Was all that was spoken, yet there was nothing to give off straight away. This peaked Sorina's curiosity, a small glint of challenge that she was always happy to oblige. (Unbeknownst to her) Much like her Father, she loved to play the socialite game, get under another's skin and toy with those weaker minded.

"Who are you?" Sorina saw herself within the opposing female; blunt, holding cards close to her chest. There was no aggression within the bland tone, yet she knew the interaction well enough to know there would be caution and speculation dancing behind those bright seafoam eyes. Sorina Niavalis Saxe-Salvatoré. She finally offered her name, yet no title... no. While she was indeed a Princess, she had no Throne or claim to one-so she would spare such commodities, until she had a true standing to say so.

And you? Her ears twitched as her gaze slid from the female, to her companion. What do they call you?

He didn't have much to say for a while as Blackfoot woofed to alert him of an approaching figure, one he could easily brush off for them to continue unbothered - but there was some fang of familiarity that twisted itself into knots as he took a closer look to the female. She reminded him of someone but he wasn't certain who. A coat as black as the night sky with no moon, and eyes as brilliant as gemstones. It called to something within him he had long forgotten, stoking those fires of hatred as he glared at the new woman throughout their whole encounter.

However the longer he looked and thoroughly dissected her, there were enough differences to soothe and tame the roaring beast within. For one this one was much taller, something that took perhaps a little too long for him to notice... that and she lacked the stars speckled through her pelt. At this realization his mood shifted, something to more relaxed even if he was still mildly annoyed.

“Rosencrantz.” He said abruptly, the dutch in his vocals spewing thicker than usual - and he said nothing further. Letting Blackfoot take the helm for the both of them.

She briefly wondered if the dark she-wolf would take offense to her gruffness, if so, then she would take her leave. There would be no point in engaging with someone like that further, a waste of everyone’s time. To her credit though, the yearling took everything in stride. The wolf answered and didn’t set off any alarm bells within the blue’s mind. A plus and someone not to be disregarded.

Of course, her name did seem needlessly long but that was not the girl’s fault.

Rosencrantz answered first. Doing it simply just as she expected and liked of him. ”Blackfoot.” The woman answered afterwards. Funnily enough, she was the chattier one of the pair. Ironic for she barely spoke at all… yet, this felt familiar. Politics. Meeting others. Forcing conversations that she didn’t want. ”Your purpose?” For surely she wasn’t just walking about in the snowy wastes for no reason. There had to be some other motive for it… and stopping for complete strangers. She didn’t seem like the overtly talkative type.

The scarred male offered his name; a rather odd one for his looks but alas, Sorina could not judge. Her name was long, perhaps too long in the eyes of most, yet she had always thought it of privilage… as it once met so much prestige.

And yet here, it was nothing. As useless as she was simply standing. The Saxe-Salvatorè line was nothing but words.

How tragic.

The woman offered her own name and her pale gaze cast to the dark paws of the woman. Fitting and perhaps too on the nose.

Your purpose?” That was when a small smile graced her lips. Searching, she began, re enforcing her poised, regal stance. For a place to raise my pack and of course like minded wolves to help. Her gaze flicked between the two. Would that be something you would both be interested in?

Well… she had to try.

Never breaking his silence other than for the mention of his name, he remained stoic... listening. Blackfoot had the right questions and kept it short, something he had always appreciated and the other woman too would answer appropriately.

It was with the mention of her wanting to start a pack of her own... asking if the two of them would be interested. Pale brows rose at this question, offering a side-eye to his companion. This was their time to drop off the pup if this was not the pack for them and he would keep Blackfoot to her promise on its topic.

For the time being, he would keep quiet and simply keep an eye on Blackfoot. Listening... and ready to interject and correct if she tried to keep the whelp for herself and make any excuse she could to keep it from going to a pack.

Ah, a pack? Had they not been looking for one? She looked at Rosencrantz, exchanging glances with him just as the other finished speaking. It was almost too perfect, wasn't it? Blackfoot's own face betrayed nothing but she knew this could be a place for Arncine... it could be a place for them as well. "Depends." The woman answered, not wanting to throw them to this woman just yet. Details were important here.

"Tell us more of your pack." Because throwing yourself at a group without knowing the details was stupid. She would walk away if the other woman said something wrong and keep looking. Although depending on the answer... she'd leave Arncine here no matter if it fit them or not.

Because the pack could raise the child better than Blackfoot ever could as a loner.

They did not shun directly away, no. There was intrigue, especially with Rosencrantz. Had she happened upon the jackpot. They inquired more and she was all too happy to oblige. Haldis, She began, candied eyes moving between the two. Will eventually be an Empire built upon two ideologies: loyalty and ambition. For without either, one cannot survive. Wolves from all walks of life are welcome, so long as they are committed to building something greater than themselves. Opportunities lie for those that seek it.
Blood does not necessarily grant status. In time, we aim to be a powerhouse in the North and a true home for those that seek it.

She paused, allowing the information to settle in. We aim to claim The Everfrost. If you can stand the cold. The corners of her mouth twitched into a smile.

Quickly the shadowed woman answered Blackfoot's questions. Appropriate as they were, he kept his mouth shut and listened... Everything she spoke of sounded fine and dandy, there were no blatant redflags he could immediately see, but those were easily hidden too in a short amount of time. He was cautious for pledging his allegiance to anyone he had just met but wasn't opposed to giving it a try and see if he could be useful somewhere.

Even if it was only temporary to settle the brat into an appropriate pack to raise him and let the Paladin leave, with or without Blackfoot in tow.

We aim to claim The Everfrost. If you can stand the cold. She said, which cracked his stone-cold mask. Cracking it into a humoured grin. Of course, he could handle the cold. The biting chilling north was in his blood.

With the grin gliding over one side of his face, he cast a new glance at Blackfoot. Wondered if it had gotten her stamp of approval to give this woman a try and see if she was worth their effort.

The other she-wolf spoke and what she spoke of sounded reasonable, good even. Core principles that should build the foundations of any pack. She heard nothing that concerned her and nothing she should be worried about. If worst came to worst, they could always up and leave. She knew Rosencrantz would have no qualms about that either.

Rosencrantz smiled at the little bit of humor, Blackfoot did not. She simply let out a huff... that was as close to a laugh as she would likely get. A good sign, really, even if she did not smile. It was nothing personal... she just never smiled.

If Rosen was smiling, then she figured she had nothing to worry about with accepting the extended offer. She nodded her head, as in acceptance. "We're interested." A pause and then. "Have a pup. She'll be with us too." Not their pup but a pup. She assumed that the news wouldn't be an issue.

With bated breath Sorina watched their expressions. An invisible weight that had been pressing upon her chest, constricting and squeezing, lifted as soon as Rosencrantz smiled. Many would react to her dry sense of humour and oh how she was thankful for Blackfoot’s small huff.

We're interested." The perfect words that she wanted to hear. Now she had three wolves by her side, all different. All hopefully useful in their own ways. Her smirk changed into a small genuine smile, dark maw dipping slightly in silent thanks.

We Have a pup. She'll be with us too. Sorina’s darker brows rose, of course there had to be some small barrier, bump in the road. Yet… Safety in numbers, correct? As of now there are four of us to keep the little one safe. She confirmed in a softer tone. How could she turn them away? She banished the doubt that lingered. They seemed capable. She just hoped that it would be enough.

Well then, She began, her long dark tail swaying behind her. Shall we begin? I will be happy to answer more questions on the way.

Still he had nothing to add. As the woman confirmed the whelp wouldn't be a problem and started to wander off, inviting them to follow her - he would cast a glance to Blackfoot and expected she to go collect the youngster as he'd trail behind what he suspected to be their new leader for the time being. Only time would tell how long they would stay loyal to her... but at least he would be useful for a little while and they could rest comfortably with a food supply until then.

End!
