Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

They didn't know how they got here, it wasn't like the forest, and oh so dry. The nights were cold to their liking and yet some days were freezing to the bone. The sand trudging through their thick fur, and a panting that continued to push through a thirst. An oasis to be found, quenching so and yet an anger continuing to rise. Exhaustion, as well, for the bear did not know how they came to be, and definitely was not a fan of this wasteland of dry ocean.

They smelled wolves though and the hunter of the wilds forth. For where there were canines was a land of sustenance, an escape from the hellish lands before their beady black eyes. An eye within the ground, cratered below was the scattering of wolves.. And they roared, a paw within an air announcing themselves as they descended inside, and felt the cool air rushing.

The wolves scattered, but few brave souls came forth. One of white (@Exalted), but it mattered not to the beast who raised their paw and slammed them. A rage filling to those who dare challenge the hunter, as they raised their bite to this stain of the desert, and threw them to the walls of a cavern.

Knowing no longer could enter that tunnel, far too small for them.. They resorted to chasing the other wolves away, for this was not their land any longer. It became one of the many that the hunter claims, as they rest their warily soul in these dunes.. Preparing for the next travel.
