Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

@Sindri

The large woman found herself tracing to the tundra often. She started to enjoy the cooling air that was brought to her fur — and yet, she was always a sore thumb to the more grim, and frosted land. She was like charcoal and embers, orange to the touch the grace of the brown grays ; ashened, and unlike that of the tundrian origins. But she never truly hunted in the lands, moreso a curious exploration at heart and moreso.. Sometimes an urge to let loose.

A frustration at heart, and legs that wanted to move as freely as they could but held trouble doing that with the Vanderfell mountains. She didn't want to slip down to the craig and focus upon her more guardian duties, for she wanted to truly run, and be free. Her scent was heavily covered by the land, and momentarily slipped away, and into the tundras itself..

Running free ; the fireclad woman through the plains of it all in a top speed, like nothing could stop her.

A golden and blonde figure trotted in a lazy lope throughout the open flatlands of the tundra. Like the Vanderfell woman, the tundra was a good place to stretch out the legs with an endless sprint, without worry of steep and sudden drops, sharp rocks or slamming into a tree.

Today Ragnar moved along with a careless gait as per his usually. Pausing only to sniff along dry bushes and paw at the earth where he thought a critter might be hiding underneath.

It was in these moments he catches the quick blur of smoke and fiery hues, another wolf dashing through the tundra but without any target before her. Maybe she had been on a message delivery to those north of them? Maybe she had only a means to get out some extra energy and boredom such as himself?

She was coming nearer into view but not particularly into his direct path. Taking in a familiar sight and scent after a moment longer, he woofs a simple greeting only.

Her limbs took her far and wide, energy that seemed to be endless for the time being with so much pent up energy. She was fully enjoying the moment, with even a tongue lolled out and if the wind was taking hold, a tail wag would've been seen. She didn't know many within the north, but nor' did she care at the moment if anyone could see her. Yet familiar scents started to cross her nose.. It twitched.

She squinted and halted, a chuff of greetings from someone that was familiar, "You're the Stormborn wolf," she said in light pant as she stopped within her tracks her aimless chase.

She takes note of him then and Ragnar for a moment wonders if she would be hard on him again. As she stands and pants, he words speak with a tone less unfriendly then before. Maybe she was just a hardass near her home? Either way, lesson learned as far as Ragnar was concerned.

“And your the grumpy guard.” He says with a playful smirk, wondering if she had some bit of sense of humor or if she was an 'all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy' type.

"I would say protective guard." She said with a snort of arrogance, and a smirk to follow. She couldn't say she liked this wolf, especially as he seemed.. Odd. She wasn't sure why he didn't want to meet the King and yet proddled on looking for the High Queen — a fan, perhaps? She had learned its better to try and look out to what was now, after mistaking Quicksilver as a spy.. Can't make that mistake again, especially as their relationship soured, and she lacked an apology ; that would never come true.

"Aren't you supposed to be at your Stormborn lair," Orlaith mocked, as he didn't leave a name, just the family name.

She corrects, offering a snort along with her air of arrogance- she had much of it, even more then himself. He doesn't argue back, only offers an uplift and roll of his shoulders in a nonchalant shrug.

“I could say the same for you,” He gave a retort, a scarred brow rising but then still answered her with, “The Stormborns are fully functional without constant supervision.” Maybe not so the same for Vanderfell's lot. Who knew. Ragnar was confident and proud in knowing that the pack did not always need him there to hold their hand or dictate their every move. Besides, Sindri was there too. He need not explain all this to the grumpy guard however.
