Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

Her children were nearly half a year old now, and were growing larger and larger as days go by. There was eight of them, and now the den felt extremely cramped that at night the Queen found herself sleeping to the outside.. Which wasn't acceptable now that winter plagued the land, where the snow hung to the ground and crunched with each step. Colder, as days go by and she relished the times of spring and summer. Soon, she would hope, that the time would come.

Celnes gathered her children and had told them it was time, to say goodbye to their birthing area. She would return to it, of course — but not for another six months at least. Not until her first litter reached their first birthday, for their time at the moment was the most important. There was risk of death and disease, as they now grew bolder, and were able to roam more freely. She would stay within the next den with them ; but with so many that were growing larger.. Not too many areas were acceptable.

She wisked them away to the Exalted Grotto, the communial den for any wolf who did not find their own, "From this day forth this shall be your home, until you come of a year of age, to which then you continue to sleep here, or find your own den within the crown." Surely they too noticed how cramp the living quarters were, and for the interest of them all..

The exalted grotto was now their new den. She was sleeping within it before her litter, and it was a tranquil place. Moss covered the ground and gave a blanket, plush and warmth. It was downwards, hidden away from the weather and gave a warmth to the winter, and when summer was to come, a breeze from the underneath. Suitable, for the entire Elkshire claim.

A smile toward them all, and a look to any of the other wolves who were currently in the den.
