I started rambling about skelmir's pass on accident so maybe some disco points there

Desire filled her paws to wander. For a moment she thought to explore the other side of the mountains further, delve into the twists that carved the path down to other woods, but a place so undiscovered raised concerns, especially if she was expecting. The pass reminded her of tales of Loki and his tricks, a stark comparison to the blessing of Ullr they found here in the woods.

Yet there was a thought...

She would play with the idea, but there was chance for a name in that comparison. She had not come to the run to pick names though. If she couldn't walk the paths she would make use of her time elsewhere, and the rumble in her stomach suggested she come for an easy pick. They would need more food for their caches with incoming mouths to feed, and she knew a mother's appetite could rival even the greatest warriors of valhalla.

Unfortunately, she wasn't a small warrior herself, and with how the days passed it would only be a matter of time before she too hungered for more than herself.

"Hey there! You kinda looking fat, wanna go for a run and hunt?"

Orlaith felt for a munch ; she had taking a drank from an earlier liquor that had been sitting in a shade for quite some time, letting the juices ripple on a leaf and dunk with a honey comb. Oh how she ate it and it simply tasted like the heavens itself, and gave but a light humming feel within her chest ; mighty fine it was. Though such love was only to last a while longer while winter was coming closer, and closer.

Upon her desire for a snack, she saw the Queen within the run. After the marriage it was a bit of googly eyes to each other, mostly Hiero, and in disgust Orlaith kept her peaceful distance from the newly weds. She didn't wanna see, pretended it didn't exist ; was pretty close to some smartass comments.. Though regardless, it seemed such a luxury of love ended the Queen on gaining a few pounds!

A warrior needed to lose some. Didn't suit her slim figure.

gonna forward date this from original post date by a couple of weeks for sake of this thread/my late ass response. Not quite present date though since shes due in less than two weeks and would be getting ready to settle down

A voice pierced the air, quick to ruin the tranquility of the run as bitter words struck a chord within her. The roan woman had no trouble picking out that it was Orlaith. The warrior had always been blunt and rough around the edges, though today her patience wore thin as an insult was tossed her way. Excuse you? She was certain her ears did not betray and rather there were children growing within her or not, she was not about to let such a comment slide.

The hairs along her nape rose slowly as she turned to meet her lone Vanir's gaze with a raised crown. Perhaps I misheard, might you rephrase? Had she been anyone else perhaps she wouldn't have even given her a chance to step in line, but Orlaith had been one of her longest-standing allies. Her longest in this place actually. She might be brutish, but Ira could only hope that her tone would convey the need to silence those tendencies for once.

"Want to go for a run?" Obviously so, she didn't notice how rude her comment was to especially a higher ranking. Orlaith doesn't really think too much concerning that, for once she somewhat 'buddies' with the person, the general respect that comes to rank goes out the window in situations, unless war was to come. She held but a rather peaceful, and oblivious smile to any insults that was given, but offered if the other wanted to go forth with any type of jogging. She could use a race, a run.. Somewhere else really, and surely so, the Queen could use that as well.

The roan queen remained poised, watching like a viper as her warrior spoke again. This time she would pick her words wisely, or perhaps she had just been lucky. Letting out a snort, she decided to let this once pass, though next time she might not be as forgiving. The children Orlaith had unwittingly insulted would also serve as her grace, for Ira knew of her ambitions. Should a fight break occur it was likely that the life she carried would not be considered by her guard.

A short one perhaps. I am uncertain how far I will fair given my status. Truthfully she was unsure if she should even run while she was pregnant, but something short that strained her little couldn't be of harm. Soon she would be confined to her den walls until the children could traverse this earth with ease and knowing herself...she would become far too restless with no release. I am with child. Such should be obvious by now, but given previous comments, she felt the need to address the matter directly.

Where I falter we may patrol. Either way, I would like to stretch my legs in some manner. Fortunately they were already in the run. The land here was better suited for a stroll or jog than the mountain turns. One wrong step would not claim more than a scratch or bruise. Waiting a moment longer should Orlaith have anything else to comment, Ira would turn slowing into jog.

It took a lot to hold back a face. For when mentioning of child, her first thought that a night with him had occurred. She wanted to pull a rather disgust face, and though she didn't want to, there was a slight imagination to play on their honeymoon night that she not wished to know, nor' wished to have happen. There was of course only one man she could have kids with, her newly found husband who looked after her with love-struck eyes.. "Congratulations," she said, with restraint, perhaps more forced then anything.

"I smelled foxes in that direction," the warrior commented with a twist of her snout as she pointed a bit to the west, and followed through on a light jog. Orlaith not couldn't really say more about the weight gaining if the other was with child — at least at the point she knew to hold her tongue. Hormonal woman were scary.

While there was no real visible reaction to her news, the forced tone of her voice said enough. She knew not what caused such a reaction, perhaps she just wasn't very fond of kids, but either way, she would have to suck it up. These children would be the future and as a guard of their domain, it would be Orlaith's job to ensure their safety.

She also brought news of foxes though, and the queen's muzzle would twist with revolt. Even with the distance, they were too close for comfort with her children incoming, and as an extension of their claim, they would need to be dealt with quickly. Had she been alone perhaps she would have left them be, if only temporary, but she had Orlaith at her side. They would be easy to dispose of and their hides would only add to the lining of her den. With a nod, she waited for the other to take the lead as she kept close.

Orlaith didn't dislike children, though she couldn't say she remembered a time with them. Her memories were very foggy, and couldn't even pinpoint if she held any siblings, or the image of her own parents.. When trying to musture a thought on how puppies would be, there was truly no example of so. If she thought about their figures though, it wasn't a positive one. Mewling and needing all that attention — but she wasn't their mother, just the guard. That was fine enough, for she most likely, would never truly be a parent.

"It smells like there is two," as they got closer to the trial, the warrior put her nose downwards and sniffed cautiously, before looking up at Ira. Perhaps they were settling for winter and upcoming children.. It was a best to remove before they attempt of their kits, either to kill or chase off as so. Preferably, she would enjoy the kill to take their pelts — but in the end it was the High Queen's call.

She needn't say more for Orlaith to take charge. They moved swiftly as they came across a stale scent that grew stronger. Since her stomach began to swell, Ira had been avoiding the far edges of their land. It was safer when she could easily call for the pack and where one would not see her growing weakness as a chance to strike. Without Orlaith though, she likely would have not noticed the family of foxes that was trying to bloom on their doorstep.

The high queen nodded to her statement. She too could smell them now, and the scent was strong. If they breed they will only become more of a pain. It would be best if we dispose of them. Her gaze shifted to Orlaith, a look all too telling that she may continue to take the lead. It was her discovery after all, and she was sure Orlaith would want to be the first to bear her fangs. Additionally, it only seemed wise that she hang back for any stragglers or to offer additional support instead of putting herself in direct fire.

"I'll snuff them out of their den," she so declared when the High Queen urged her to continue. She felt it was best she took on most of the action, glancing gradually toward the queen's belly. Though only showing a bit, it would not be wise to truly make her do too much, in the risk of so. Aligning her thoughts with the other, she started heading forward to the den [mdash[ easy to see though as they already dug their hole upon a hillside.. Yet, it didn't seem they were inside, most likely hunting.

"I'll go hide behind it, and ambush while they return."

As they neared upon the den it would become apparent that their quarry was now missing. The roan queen's jaw locked with their discovery. If they were not here then they must be deeper in the woods, stealing their fill or worse. Following the crisscrossing fresh paths though may very well end up a waste of their time, so when Orlaith offered to stay for an ambush she would simply nod. You wish to do so alone?

There were no doubts in her mind that the warrior could handle a few foxes, but the open-ended offer would be presented all the same. Perhaps she too did not want to risk her pregnancy on the likes of a nuisance. It would be an unsatisfying end for her to turn tail now, but there was still other duties she could tend to while Orlaith cleaned up this mess.

Orlaith nodded, not commenting she would not desire to pursue further with the High Queen and her pregnancy. Though obviously so wouldn't say out loud — but the thought did loom around her head if any injury would occur. Small as they were, they still were mean to the bite even if in the end they tended to be a bit small to the rest, weaker then wolves.  Though she would like to ask if the other may wait around for stragglers, if any of the foxes tended to try and retreat..

It felt wrong to order her superior though, and bit her tongue on such suggestion.

She was given a nod in return as Orlaith watched her. It was impossible to tell just what was going through her head, but if she wished to do this alone, she could not complain. Not when she knew she was better off elsewhere. Very well, return to me once they have been disposed of. Despite their ranks, Ira would not try to stay unless Orlaith changed her mind. She was a stubborn warden though so she turned to leave without a fight.

She watched the High Queen take an exit and did not stop her ; as now a small plan started to formulate. What if.. She brought the pelts as a den-place? Or even a necklace of sorts? Though foxes itself were irritating at times their fur was prized for dens and covers. They held a softness that felt unlike some canines and others, and with thought coming she was smiling devilishly in a thought, turning toward where they were.

It took some time for them to actually come forth, and she almost was falling asleep.. It perhaps didn't go as plan though with the guards impatience, for when she saw one she immediately lunged in a thirst of battle. That itself surprised one of the foxes as the other fled into the den, where she would be unable to reach. Not that it mattered for the current time as the large woman swung her head back and forth at the fox she caught within her jaw. Feeling the smalls scratches against her muzzle and chest and even a bite to her shoulder, though blood be drawn she had gotten it well enough where it was unprepared within her craze of desire. A snapping of the neck was a quick one, especially since it was small.. Most likely the female of the pair.

Perhaps seeing it's mate dead to the ground brought a vengeance, for the other came out with a shriek of a battle cry. Orlaith welcomed him with a loud, dark laughter as he lunged to her neck and clung to. It was grabbing her angrily from the back where she couldn't reach, nipping and clawing her back.. So like any other would do, Orlaith pushed herself up — and back.

Squishing the smaller beast to death.

"Prizes to be," and to bring back the pelts to the High Queen.
