Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

No one had to tell him what happened to his god. Others of the pack may have worried, thrown around guesses, but Draco had sat silently, content in knowing what he knew. He had slipped from the maw, from the pack lands, unnoticed. Now with the stars of fangs watching his back, he knew he could wander wherever he wanted with permission.

The always grinning wolf had gone through the mountains and had found himself now on even land. The temperature had gotten colder, and even in his delusional mind, he could take a safe guess that he was heading north. Not too far off in the distance, and Draco felt his legs drawn towards it. Even though he wasn’t actually thirsty, he could imagine the feeling of water running down his throat, cold and cool as it curled in his belly.

Eventually he found himself on the shore, and before taking a drink, he found himself staring down at his appearance. Back in the marshy lands where he had met Satchel, he hadn’t truly been able to see his face, but in this clear, still water, he could make out everything. The scars that had bonded him to his god, the smile that She had gifted him - it truly was glorious.

"You in Vanderfell territory, this ain't no loitering land." There was something eerie, about a fellow staring at his own appearance in the water. It gave Orlaith an overall bad vibe, already perking her territorial traits more then it already was. From a distance did she raise a brow to him, as she held a rather guarded stance with fur steadily rising. Though not true aggression just yet, giving the man a chance to either leave, or otherwise. She knew that @Ira would desire more paws within their force, but the fireclad woman was more of 'get out,' or 'pledge loyalty.'

Draco’s ears flicked towards the stranger behind him. He must have missed some scent markers or something because the wolf was talking like the place was owned. The smiling wolf dipped his head down, taking some quick licks of the water. Usually, he would be itching for a fight, but he didn’t feel up to it today, or at least not at the moment.

Didn’t realize this lake was claimed.” Draco took some more sips, not looking at the stranger. “I’ll be on my way soon.” He offered. It would be nice to get some rest before having to leave the area; it had been a climb getting down the mountains and he hadn’t rested truly since Kyeza Returned.

lmao i didn't realize this was a pack land, my bad

"Ain't no soon, it's a now." She didn't like how the man firstly didn't look at her in acknowledgement, and rather leisurely took some time to intake their water source. Though Orlaith didn't want to wait around for him to leave, much less leave herself and 'hope' he would. Her voice not tinged in the faintest growl as she shifted her head higher, like she was looking down upon him. Closer did she inch though, keeping a fine eye on his actions.

all is good LOL interesting interactions

Draco gave a sigh. It was such a pain in the ass to be ordered around by someone that wasn’t god, but he didn’t feel exactly like fighting this woman over something that’s so abundant as water. The cannibal got to his paws, finally turning towards her. His emotions gave away no fear of himself or any discomfort towards his appearance. Draco almost looked at peace.

Okay, I’ll go. BUT! But, but, but!” A small click of his teeth, eyes going wide for a moment. His tongue darted to press against the scars on his cheeks. “I want you to walk me out; I’d prefer to the north or west, please.” To him it actually didn’t seem like a bad deal; Draco was leaving, and the stranger got to make sure he was leaving.

As the man agreed to now leave, and she didn't have to resort by force by fighting over the claimed water, lightly there was relaxation just a bit from her aggression, fur slicking back, but still remained guarded. A man with scars always held something, and there was definitely something off on the way he spoke, his teeth clattering, the way he simply was. Utterly calm and in peace - which honestly just pissed her off, but what can be done? Attacking a wolf for no reason when he was willing to leave would lead a stern lecture, and she wasn't that barbaric.

He asked an odd request however, though the warrior obliged by so, "Alright, west it is." In her mind she switched between the two and decided upon the west, thinking lead him to somewhere where water could be easily obtained rather then drinking Vanderfell water. She was, in fact claiming a water source, and was willing to fight someone over it. Being protective over the territory, and especially so Orlaith was a rather unreasonable wolf in the sense of selfishness. What was hers would not be shared.

"Please do not return, goodbye."

Draco had expected to walk and talk, but the stranger was making quick work of him. But he was too much into his own mind to truly care. He was starting to think of his next meal, but he had decided upon first meeting the she-wolf not to eat her. It would be, how his father had put it, rude. He had scolded him as a child to not talk to food, and he had taken that to mean that once he had conversed with someone, they were (mostly) eliminated from the list.

As they quietly got to the border, the she-wolf spoke, saying goodbye and to never return. Without a word, without barely even a pause, Draco kept walking. He’d figure out something to do.
