Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

although quite a distance from the bella vista, solas managed to traverse the lands surrounding the mountain pack of vanderfell woods he had heard about from ries. avoiding their dense, clumped scents was easy enough. he slid along their border like a midnight wraith, running in the darkness in hopes that it would conceal him further from prying, wandering eyes. he didn't want to be singled out when he had finally decided to leave the flourishing meadow.

it was during this time he had more time to plan his next steps. it would appear that he was not going to avoid other wolves as easily as he had hoped. everywhere he turned, another would crop out. his brother would have laughed at his discomfort. lighten up, solas. experience something new. he could hear the words bouncing around in his ebon skull now. as a result, he shook out his fur, dust and leftover flora from his journey dispersing to the dirt.

here was different. here - it seemed almost more picturesque than the wildflowers, if that were even possible. solas slowed to a halt, inspecting his surroundings as his muscles tensed and untensed. he had been running since late last night - his bones were weary, aches soft and warm along his thighs and ribcage. there was a rather large-sized lake before him. it called to his pains.

he was not alone, however. this became abundantly clear when the outline of a pale figure appeared at the outstretched fingertips of the water. solas slowed, hesitant. while he knew the lake would help soothe his tired legs, he also knew approaching it invited more conversation. his brother, again, clawed at the back of his violet eyes.

go. he could hear in that cheerful, supportive jest. solas sighed.

he went, and his body slipped slowly into the water until it reached the lower part of his chest. immediate relief flooded him. his senses tingled, as if cradled in sunshine. solas felt almost caressed by the soft ripples accompanying his weight unsettling the surface. slowly, he dropped his chin into the serene blue. if he stayed like this - quiet and still, amongst the lily pads - maybe this stranger would let him be.
