his happenstance meeting with ries had occurred not much too long ago. solas still reeled from it - he always needed a few days of recuperation after any social experience, and this one was no different. while his stomach was full from the young doe they had caught together, he knew it wouldn't last long. since he had noticed more tracks when they were hunting days before, he thought it would be a wise idea to linger a bit longer should he need to catch something smaller for his venture.

this time, he wasn't running full-speed into the meadow. no - he walked carefully now, delicately, sparing the budding wildflowers from death from above. he did not need to crush one to remind himself to keep living like before. he took time to watch their petals dance in the breeze, patient with nature how he was not with others.

his nose had been pressed lightly into the grasses when a disembodied voice carried over the wind. his eyes immediately closed. perhaps if he stayed still, it would not pursue. he was not sure he was ready to be caught alone once more. his breath hitched, waiting for a continuance.

nothing. had the source of the sound decided to leave after all? solas slowly cracked open one eye, slightly turning his cheek to glance behind him.

no. it - they - he sniffed - she - was still there. the tall male wondered if he could blink the vision of another wolf away. perhaps ries had sent another to bother him. some sort of tag-team effort to occupy his days. he groaned.

“no, not particularly.” he breathed out the words as though each one were an effort to produce. pale violet eyes shifted to the female's verdant ones, but he did not move positions to greet her properly. “you're also .. from the mountain pack?”

a reasonable assumption given he had only ever been approached by one of them in the bella vista. his coal lip quirked downward at the thought.
