Temporary loyalty can be bought • Long term loyalty must be earned
* No self esteem: Alaric was never made to feel special or different from his kin. He took to bullying and maltreating his young siblings as a way of coping with his own self doubt and self loathing. He agrees that he is no different, not special, and holds no candle to others - he hates it. From dawn until dusk he attempts to dislodge this concrete feeling.
* Conceited: Although he does not see his value, Alaric will bask and bathe in the praise of others. Any victory he establishes is brag-able and must be flaunted for affirmation of his victories. It leads him to flirt often and seek physical intimacy as well, anything to feed his ever at-war ego.
* Guarded: Alaric is Pandora’s box. A mystery many want to open, but fueled and filled with hate, anger, sadness, sorrow, envy, and little to no love. He holds his personal emotions and thought to himself and does not freely share them. Alaric never risks getting too close to others.
* Rational (to a degree): Smart enough to analyze the situation, but dumb enough to go through with it even with a slim chance of survival. Even the smallest possibility of success, the tiniest chance of praise and self advancement - will drive him to pursue the fool’s plan he concocted.
* Traumatized: a man of loyalty, traditions, and law abiding - he was traumatized by much. By the slaughter of Octavian, an internal battle of desiring revenge for his kin and the hatred for how weak his brother was. The hate for Damascus and his unnecessary wrath, versus the understanding and encouragement of power used for advancement. He hates Damascus, but is unsure if it was because he was exiled and caused the dominion to spiral into chaos, or if it was because he broke the laws of brutality. An unstable neutral ground is where his younger brother lives.
* Envious: envious of those with faces that stick out from the crowd, envious of those whose natal pack has not fallen, envious of those that do not need to fight for reassurance day by day.
* Hateful: Alaric hates them all, everyone is replaceable if they do not offer skills for advancement or do not swear loyalty. His hatred for family, for events, for the blood that courses within his own veins, his hatred of himself projected onto every individual he meets.
* In denial: Alaric denies any weakness of himself. He denies any chance of care, love, or interest - they only hinder him. He is a war machine, a monster, a mind of advancement.
* Emotionally stunted: Alaric is constantly at war with denying his feelings and even can go as far to say he doesn’t even understand what it is he’s feeling nor how to handle the emotions of others. Sorry but he’ll just peace the heck out.
* Survivalist: disowning his emotions, Alaric tends to rely more on instinct and simply survival. With the lack of the dominion and the hate for any face he sees, he often had to cope with living on his own, aside from the occasional lackey.
* Follows rules without mercy or compassion: Alaric has little to know mercy for those who break rules, traditions, or respected order. His form of justice is often death for their crimes. He will hold no compassion of the criminal and their actions, death or maximum punishment for anything.
* Does not break his word: once given, unless he can do it lawfully via loophole (if ever given): a man of his word - Alaric is many things, but a liar is not one of them. He Does not lie but may mislead or withhold information from others. A vow is the making of a man, of anyone, if you cannot keep it you do not deserve your tongue. If the involved parties dissolve their loyalty, break the laws, or other corrupt things his promises are voided and can freely retract them.
* His reluctance comes partly from his nature and partly because he depends on order to protect himself from those who oppose him on moral grounds
* Alaric does things for Honor and dedicated self interest such as his and his comrades advancement or praise.
* “Good” is seen as mediocrity and promoting the value of the weak and suppressing the strong. By no means would Alaric say he is evil, but if a choice had to be made, he would be the latter.
* His less moral actions of physical attack are for advancement, defense, revenge, and obtain information - never for sheer pleasure. Albeit this doesn’t mean he doesn’t enjoy it when it happens.
* Respect for the dead - Al will allow his enemies to remove their dead allies and bury them. Equally Alaric will bury his own dead allies.
* Regardless of weakness or alignments, a host that shelters, helps, or heals him, will earn his neutrality and prevent him from turning on them. Respect is earned, not given.
* Will betray family and allies if they break laws and moral codes, or if they are weak and offer no benefit to himself- will not if they are loyal to such things or assist him in some way.
