She moved through the lands alone, her son sleeping in the den they'd found together. She hadn't strayed terribly far from the den, still within the distance to hear if something went wrong, if someone bothered him while he was asleep. He was a large boy, so she doubted that anything would really mess with him, but Jesuite was a protective mother all the same.
In the solitude of the night, under the indigo skies dotted with the sparkle of stars, Jesuite let loose a gentle sigh. It was in these times that she let her feelings of longing and sadness wash over her; tail down, ears drooping, posture small and insignificant in a way. While her son filled a monumental hole in her heart, it was not quite the same, not quite sealed, not quite...
He was not a replacement, and she didn't view him as such. It would have been unfair to him, and to the lost memories and faces of her family before.
Gently, the silver woman moved down to the next step of the terraces she found herself on, leaning her head down to sniff at what looked like a flower but did not smell like a flower. A passing wonder of what it was flickered through her before she moved on to further explore this curious, unique place.
