Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

After finishing a good lunch and quenching the wicked thirst that followed, Antares still loitered near the depths of the territory. It was early in the afternoon, and so far, a relatively quiet one--chilly, cloudy, and typical for winter shifting into early springtime in their elevations. He paused to take in the mountainside's scene and weigh his options, his eyes flicking to a flash of bird wings that took off overhead. He watched them go, unbothered despite his pensive-looking furrow and slicked back ears, though noting the direction they went: east, roughly towards the shoreline.

He re-centered, and breathed deep. The morning's light dusting of fresh snowfall was dotted in pawprints already, though he suspected much of it would be gone should the sun come out to shine. Still, of the trails available, there was one that stood out over the rest: he set to motion after the path of the young @Arathorn.

I somehow never saw this; i am the worst 1_face_sob I'm just pushing him up to today's age -- 6 months.

Today, the boy could be found wandering on his own; well, not quite wandering. He had found the path of Shiroshika's Paladin. Paladins? There was another, fainter scent her[narrow]e but Antares' was the more prominent. It was the one that he was more focused on, too. The trail wore the man's scent well, if faintly. A morning rain had dampened it some, but not enough to where Arathorn could not find it.

Every so often, the monochrome boy would stop along the path and inspect whatever had gained his attention, taking some time to do so before moving on to the next thing. For this is what Paladins did, wasn't it? Dad had said they walk around the mountain and check up on everything. So this... was it? It seemed boring and not particularly what he had in mind.

Arathorn huffed quietly as he stared down at the large paw print so cleanly stamped into the ground, his own paw carefully placed in the middle. It was still a bit smaller than the print, but not as small as it would have been a month ago. Still, the boy felt restless. Out of place.

Claws dug into the ground and scuffed across the pawprint, another huff escaping him as he began to move again, still feeling like he was doing this paladin thing wrong.
